MANUEL TORRES DESIGN reinterprets the classic espardeña and presents ‘California Collection’ for the firm Eighty2 Ibiza.
Every year, with the arrival of heat and summer, the classic season garments return. Among them, the classic espardeña, key shoes to wear on any occasion, a walk through the city on a sunny afternoon or at night on the beach. MANUEL TORRES DESIGN has reinvented this traditional footwear and has designed for the firm Eigthy2 Ibiza the collection ‘California by MANUEL TORRES DESIGN’.
Manuel Torres Acemel opens as new Artistic Director and designs his first collection of footwear ‘California by MANUEL TORRES DESIGN’, with the elegance of always incorporating new trends and proposing alternatives to traditional models. Using an icon of the American lifestyle such as jean and its know-how of Italian design presents a first collection composed of two models: ‘Santa Cruz’ and ‘Los Angeles’. The union of two cultures, the American and the Italian is a perfect combination that with the fabric of the Vichy frame brings us back to a Brigitte Bardot style of the 60s. In addition, a leather edging unifies the different fabrics of the shoe making it a model that provides the ideal sophistication for any summer event.
The model Santa Cruz is unisex and Los Angeles is a female model with 7-string platform. All of them are handmade and have the classic esparto sole. The fabric is cowboy in worn blue tone combined with red or blue skin in the buttress of the edging and the heel along with an interior in blue vichy, red vichy or with a plain red.
This is the first collection of those designed by MANUEL TORRES DESIGN for Eighty2 Ibiza. In the next 2013 will be presented the casual winter collection ‘Urban Collection’ and the collection of summer espadrilles ‘Exotic Collection’.
The espardeña is a fashionable trend for its traditional values added to the maximum quality and the exclusive design of limited edition. The bet is to rediscover a classic.
